Can you make digital copies of my precious photos and pictures for me?

Taking copies of your fragile or precious images is always a sensible step to take. Memory Boxes now offer a photo scanning service for customers requiring good quality copies of their precious or fragile pictures. We will scan your pictures and save in compressed or uncompressed format onto CD or DVD.

Please note that we will handle your photos with extreme care and respect. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any untoward damage that may occur due to the age or fragility of such items during handling. Photos should be sent by recorded delivery with covering insurance. They will be returned to you the same way.

For further details please contact Memory Boxes giving details of your pictures.

I want to scan and store all my photos on CD. Is this safe?
Digital archiving is all about access over time. If you back up your photos using the computer hardware, software and CDs available today, will your photos still be available to view in 5 or 10 years time? Computer hardware is renowned for its fast fall to obsolescence. Having said that, with careful planning and management, the storage of pictures and data on CD and DVD can be a useful method of preservation. For a full guide to planning your digital archival collection please visit our Archival Guides section.
